The CSK 2024 squad made significant moves in the IPL 2024 auction with a specific objective in mind, replacing the void left by Ben Stokes. While they made a strong bid for Pat Cummins, ultimately, they secured the services of New Zealand allrounders Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra. Mitchell, fresh off two impressive centuries against India in the ODI World Cup, adds power to their batting lineup. Ravindra serves as a valuable backup for Moeen Ali. CSK also welcomed back bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur and Mustafizur Rahman, who can thrive with his cutters on Chennai's slow pitches.
CSK's smart move was addressing the vacancy left by Ambati Rayudu. Instead of pursuing experienced Indian batters like Karun Nair and Manish Pandey, they opted for the promising 20-year-old uncapped Indian Sameer Rizvi. Rizvi showcased his prowess in the UP T20 league, amassing 455 runs in nine innings, including two centuries, at a remarkable strike rate of 188.8.

Mumbai Indians (MI) went all-in on strengthening their pace-bowling attack during the auction. In addition to Jasprit Bumrah and Jason Behrendorff, they acquired Sri Lanka's left-arm paceman Dilshan Madushanka, a standout performer in the recent World Cup, and South Africa's Gerald Coetzee, known for his all-round abilities. They also introduced a surprise element in Nuwan Thushara from Sri Lanka, who has drawn comparisons to the legendary Lasith Malinga.
However, MI missed an opportunity by not aggressively pursuing an overseas spinner to complement Piyush Chawla. Nevertheless, they managed to secure the services of Shreyas Gopal to address this area of concern.

Gujarat Titans entered the IPL 2024 auction with a considerable purse and specific objectives. While finding a direct replacement for Hardik Pandya proved challenging, the new Impact Player rule offered them flexibility. They secured Azmatullah Omarzai at an uncontested price, an Afghan standout from the ODI World Cup.
Although they initially pursued Mitchell Starc, eventually allowing Kolkata Knight Riders to secure him for a record INR 24.75 crore, the Titans opted for uncapped Australian left-arm seamer Spencer Johnson. They bolstered their pace attack further with the addition of experienced Umesh Yadav and young talent Kartik Tyagi. Their middle-order received a power-hitting boost with Shahrukh Khan, who also provides an off-spin option. However, the reigning champions missed an opportunity to find a suitable replacement for Wriddhiman Saha.
