The Tale: Located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Bhangarh Fort is often touted as the most haunted place in India. According to local legends, Singhiya, a magician, was smitten with the lovely princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh. When his advances were rebuffed, he tried to ensnare her with a love potion. However, the princess caught on to his plans and threw the potion onto a boulder, which rolled over the magician, crushing him. But before his death, Singhiya cursed the fort, leading to its downfall.
Visitor Information: The Archaeological Survey of India has officially prohibited anyone from entering the fort between sunset and sunrise. Locals advise against visiting even during daytime.

Dumas Beach, Gujarat: The Whispering Sands

The Tale: Located near Surat, Dumas Beach is as infamous for its paranormal activities as it is for its black sands and scenic beauty. Folklore says that it was once a burial ground, and hence, spirits still roam the area. Numerous reports talk about mysterious disappearances, chilling whispers being heard, and apparitions being seen during nighttime.
Visitor Information: While the beach is a popular tourist spot during the day, it's advised to be cautious and avoid the area after dark.

The Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune: The Lament of a Young Prince

The Tale: A historic fort in Pune, Maharashtra, Shaniwarwada is known for its impressive architecture and its tragic past. According to legends, a young prince named Narayanrao was brutally murdered by his kin inside the fort. It’s said that on full moon nights, one can hear his ghostly cries of "Kaka mala vachva" (Uncle save me) echoing across the fort.
Visitor Information: The fort is open to visitors during the day, but many locals believe that it's haunted by the young prince's spirit, especially during full moon nights.
